Governor Uba Sani Clarifies Misinformation Regarding Schoolchildren Abduction in Kaduna State

In a recent development, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has come forward to clarify the confusion surrounding the abduction of schoolchildren in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area of the state. Contrary to previous reports indicating that 287 schoolchildren were abducted on March 7, 2024, Governor Uba Sani revealed that the actual number of abducted children was 137.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme, Governor Uba Sani emphasized that the initial figures of 287 schoolchildren were inaccurate and merely "figments of people’s imaginations." He further explained that, as a leader, his primary concern was the safety and well-being of the abducted children and their families, rather than getting caught up in the discrepancies of reported numbers.

Governor Uba Sani expressed his gratitude towards the collaborative efforts of the military and local authorities from Zamfara State, which led to the successful rescue of all the kidnapped children from the hands of the bandits. He emphasized that the families of the abducted children had confirmed the accuracy of the numbers provided by the military.

The abduction occurred at LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School, Kuriga, on March 7, 2024. Despite the initial confusion, the Defence Headquarters announced on Saturday that a total of 137 students have been successfully rescued, bringing relief and joy to the families, the state government, and the community at large.

Governor Uba Sani's clarification underscores the importance of accurate reporting and responsible leadership during times of crisis. As efforts continue to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, it is crucial to rely on verified information and support collaborative initiatives aimed at combating insecurity and safeguarding the well-being of communities.
